Q: Why the interest in "How Web 2.0 are you?"

There's been lots of buzz on Twitter about Allan LaFramboise's presentation from the ESRI dev summit titled, "GeoWeb Development: How Web 2.0 are you?"now posted on Slideshare. I found the results of survey of how developers perceived the value of tools like RSS and blogs and podcasts very interesting and I'm pleased ESRI is sharing the results. The details are interesting to me because I'm involved in publishing using those tools and technologis.

It's an interesting presentation for sure. What exactly about it fuels the buzz? The pretty graphics? The review of the survey? The list of sources? The homework? Something else?

because, quite possibly,our industry may just be the last to have adopted the Web 2.0 model. most of us have had limited access to the web while at work and until very recently, web based applications and technology have not been easy to use nor readily accessable...that's one of the reason we created Land Surveyors United. however, there is a change on the horizon! when you start thinking about how mobile the web is becoming and how helpful shared information can be for getting work done, you will see that it may not necessarily be Web 2.0 that our industry is starting to adopt but maybe even Web 3.0...the sharing of the semantic web...just a thought..
