Should Aviation GPS Vendors Include User Generated "Emergency Landing Sites"?

I ask because the fellow behind a website, Emergency Runways, that's collecting such locations (via a Google Map) hopes vendors will do just that. I love the idea that these sites are being collected, ideally by those who know what makes a good landing site. It's also great the dataset is freely downloadable. I just wonder about liability for the vendors including such data in a product.

It doesn't sound like a very good idea. An emergency field can become unusable in the time it takes grass to grow. It is impossible to keep such information up to date.

I agree with the first comment, however if these sites are approved by the FAA and are actually civil avaiation strips and noted on the map as surface unkown, or grass, gravel, etc., having a database that is searcheable quickly gives a pilot at least some indication of options, heck even the Hudson River has been proven to be an emergency landing area, just depaends on the skill of the pilot.
