Garmin Phones, Past nuvifome, Will be Android

Many sites are reporting that news after Garmin Asia Pacific marketing director Tony An let the news slip. The nuvifone, which apparently will not be based on Android, is expected in Taiwan in Q2 of next year. Android phones, developed by Garmin, but manufactured by others are due later in the year.

Garmin disputes some of the numbers and the roll out schedule in the original article in DigiTimes from which the story above (and others) were sourced. Garmin did not dispute the discussion of operating systems.

Part of my business is developing Auto Tours that combine maps, pictures and narative. last month I lost my GPS by forgetting that I left it on the back of the car while I juggled a camera and a note pad. I would love to see a Garmin phone that could take geo-referenced pictures, with a voice file and email them or post them on a web site. Is that here or in development?
