Weekend Update Addresses Magic Map
The Saturday Night Live crew sent up John King and his "magic map wall" on its Thursday evening special edition. Engadget has images and the video. More interesting are the "heated" comments about the technology and why it seems SNL has better tech than MSNBC. Also, discussion of less expensive smartboards, used in education.
I used one of those years ago and found the tech impressive then. For the record, it projected the monitor image on a large white board and instead of a mouse, you "touched" the interface options (in my case ArcView 2's) such as menu pics to drive it. There was no "pinching" or other gestures, so far as I recall. Just by chance, there's a profile of one used in an elementary school in California online today. And, Medill shows of a new Smart Table in use by Chicago area first graders.
