In this podcast, Adena says that she is unaware of the group called Cartography and Geographic Information Society (CAGIS). This is a long-standing group that was a "member organization" of ACSM for many years (under a variety of names, but starting as the American Cartographic Association). It was the sponsor of the AUTO-CARTO series, starting in 1974 - an important venue for the creation of everything GIS... It publishes the journal now titled Cartography and GIS (CaGIS). For a number of reasons, CAGIS extracted itself from ACSM.
