Quote of the Week

"I have tabled a motion asking that Derry City Council write to Google asking that they upgrade the coverage available in the North West of the island [Ireland]. Images are available in far greater detail for other parts of Ireland and the United Kingdom and I hope the council will support my call for Google to take steps to upgrade the images available in the North West as soon as they can."

I think there are a few reasons this quote is interesting:

It shows how important some people feel about how their geography is represented in Google Earth.

It shows the expectation that its Google's obligation/responsibility/? to offer better data of their area.

I suggests to me at least that the quotee probably hasn't researched how Google gets its imagery, when it gets updates or that it's possible for the city/region to share its data with Google.

On the other hand, it could just be a trick to get blogs like this to pick it up and be sure Google sees it.
