Patent Watcher: Google's Future May be in Transportation Routing

Stephen Arnold offered up that analysis at the AIIM (The Enterprise Content Management Association) conference last week in Boston. His basis:

a transportation routing patent already in use in Google's employee bus system in the Bay Area and likely in a Google facility in Korea.

FWIW, Google just scored a contract with New Jersey Transit.

After reading the full Information Week item, I can see nothing being done by Google in this area that has not been done many times elsewhere for years. Perhaps there is something in the patent that is unique but, based upon other patents of well-know spatial analytic approaches, it seems unlikely.
