Ummmm....I didn't know there are satellite mapping vans in Googles fleet. Wonder how hard it is to get the van up in space.

Thinking of mapping vans. There was one in our neighborhood in August. The only reason I know so, is looking at the imagery and amount of my new fence painted.

I have to admit, I've never heard of a 'satellite mapping van'. Though, I would have to suggest that it was a Street View van, and that perhaps they're being asked if anything shows-up on Street View imagery -- which I have my doubts.

It's also difficult to know where the misconception comes from -- did it come from the reporter, not knowing what was meant, and believing that Google Earth has access to all-knowing, all-seeing satellites? Or was it the investigator who stated seeing a 'Google satellite mapping van'? The latter being even more troubling to me.

Another funny bit in the article. "Internet satellite camera". That's new one.

A good laugh when people mis-understand the techology. Good comedy.
