Update: Done deal Nokia to acquire NAVTEQ

It's official.

The Wall Street Journal reports today that Nokia is in talks to acquire NAVTEQ. There's been speculation on a NAVTEQ acquition since TomTom announced plans to acquire Tele Atlas. In fact, I was even discussing a possible acquisition with a NAVTEQ rep at FOSS4G last week.

Word is the companies have been speaking for weeks. Also, NAVTEQ's market value of $7.6 billion, would make it one of Nokia's biggest acquisitions.

What's your feeling about commercial organizations that participate in kind or cash support to help in disasters and publicize those efforts?
No issues; it's good for the planet and good business.
It's ok, but does make me wonder about their motives.
It's pure marketing, and bothers me.
