Among the culprits in Greek fire response: lack of imagery

Remote Sensing

As locals examine the response of the Greek government to a rash of fires that devistated many rural forest homes, technology has been identified as a limitation. Two years ago the Prime Minister promised regular imagery would be gathered to insure forest development was not occuring. That didn't happen. Firefighters note that a lack of imagery hindered responses, too.

Should have asked NASA for help. I reposted a NASA Greek fires image on my blog from a public forum; I am sure NASA has much higher-res imagery.

NASA does not have a sensor model that's high resolution. NASA also, in so many ways, has their hands tied behind their back with the budget cuts they've endured and Earth taking a back seat to Mars (you can thank our President, I guess).
