The traffic tab on Google Maps for iOS and Android will now include notifications of accidents, construction, road closures and other incidents reported by Waze users. Meanwhile, the Waze app now supports Google search, and Waze map editors will have access to Google Street View and satellite imagery.
Brian McClendon, VP of Google Maps goes on to note more intergration in the works despite the FTC looking into the acquisition retroactively.

Twelve Ohio institutions received $220,000 in Dominion Foundation Higher Education Grants. Among them:
Lakeland Community College, Kirtland, received $15,000 to support a geospatial technology program that prepares students for high-demand real world jobs. Students will complete experiential learning, including internships, co-ops and job shadowing to prepare them for careers in geospatial technologies.
Many of the others involved welding education grants.

Unmanned aerial systems and remote sensing company, PrecisionHawk, today announced the closing of an Angel investment round carried by Bob Young, co-founder of open-source software company Red Hat (Nasdaq: RHT,) and Innovate Indiana, the investment fund of Indiana University. The funding will give PrecisionHawk the capability to expand to meet the growing demand for unmanned aerial vehicles and aerial imaging data services in the civilian space in the US as well as abroad. ...
