Programmable Web's latest roundup of new APIs includes goodies for geospatial developers:

Evrythng API: Evrythng is an internet software and services company providing a unique online identity and profile for any physical object.

Placr API: Placr is a UK public transport data aggregator offering feeds to apps and real-time running displays.

Shoudio API: Shoudio is a location based audio platform that lets users record and share geo-tagged audio snippets with friends via, Twitter, Facebook and Foursquare. 

USA Today Census API: The USA TODAY Census API allows developers to programmatically access United States Census information.

"A lot of that classic, natural history approach to mammalogy has gone by the wayside. Now that a lot of it is molecular, people are using GIS (geographic information system) and all these new technologies. It's almost like mammalogy 2.0 - you go back over what we thought we knew and look at it with whatever new technique you're trying to test out. It will either verify what you already knew and give you more details or overturn what you thought you knew. It's never boring."
