Time Magazine’s Top 50 Invention’s list for 2009 seems to lack a entry that was at least location-aware. Unless you count the "Smart Bullet" or "Teleportation" there are no inventions that leveraged location technology or data. Even those reach a little far. Seems odd given what seems to be a busy community of developers and entrepreneurs using location-based technology. What’s your take? Check out the five worst inventions, too.

This is probably a good time for an update considering Google’s new Android-based free Google Maps Navigation and the talk it may come to other platforms, include the iPhone.
Among the goodies in a new free update, now pending approval in the AppStore:
- ext-to-speech (TTS) for spoken street names and POIs as part of the device’s directions
- graphic lane guidance
- links to emergency services
- an iPod inside the app to play and manage music (thus getting around the challenge of running but one app at a time)
- map update
- dataset of “safety cameras”

Simplicity Software has added a new feature to its offering for sales automation, CRM and eMarketing for those involved with buildings. It basically adds views of the buildings. The new feature is called “Virtual Topo Maps.” From what I understand, the data is not “topo” but is both “virtual” and “map-based.” While the press release says several companies are using or preparing to use the new feature, there’s are no sample uses. I did find this map app on the Essex website.
...the Virtual Topo Maps display building lots, multi-family units, or senior-living units under development or management. By just mousing over any building lot or unit on the builder-developer/ facility’s website, a data box pops up that shows, in real time, all the data the builder, developer, or property manager wants associated with that lot or unit, including availability, pricing, size, premiums, and even what floorplans the lot or unit will accommodate. The data box can be expanded to accommodate whatever data the builder, developer, or property manager wants to display, including sales person contact, and even special pricing offers.

We’ve added a “share this” toolbox to each All Points Blog post that allows visitors to share our content via Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and other social media options. We’ve done the same over at Directions Magazine.
Just like we learned in kindergarden: sharing is good. Further, it helps you to “be sure to tell a friend.”

The line of clothes is called Y-3 (never heard of it, but then I’m a Brooks kind of person) and ad firm Sid Lee put the creative together. It’s a black and white image of the city with full color models in it. Clicking on the models shows of a 3D view of the clothing.
I guess this is not creepy?
