GIS in Lagos
GIS is coming to Lagos, Nigeria. Governor Babatunde Fashola opened the second stakeholders’ forum on digital mapping, Geographic Information System (GIS) in the state this week. I suspect something went wrong with a translation regarding GIS capabilities.
Fashola, who led other members of the State Executive Council at the forum held at the state Secretariat Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja, described GIS as a total life change that is capable of confronting the challenges of emerging planets.
Welcome aboard Lagos!

Blockbuster Offers Map to "Staycation" with Films
The movie retailer is reporting that a survey it did suggests that 55% of respondents will stay home for entertainment rather than vacationing on the road. To promote how those stay at homers can travel via the movies, Blockbuster now offers an interactive map that highlights movies set in different locales in the U.S.
Strangely, a counterpart of the promotion: sharing pictures from actual visits to these and other movie sights. That sends a bit of a mixed message, at least to me!
