The reason I note this launch? JumpTap was one of the companies that selected Autodesk Location Services technology to power its LBS services. ALS is no longer part of Autodesk. The strategic alliance between the two companies was announced Oct 31, 2006.

Right here in Peabody MA, a grant for technology enabled the purchase of GIS software (not clear what software). Eight students signed up for the first offering which included a project with the cosmetology dept to help its students develop a business plan. (Note to New Englanders, how about getting the instructor to speak at a local GIS event?)

The Canadian federal government will chip in $500,000 alongside a contribution from ESRI Canada, to help Algoma University (Sault Ste. Marie) create a Health Informatics Research Institute on its campus.
The research chair position was announced in December and the university is trying to fill it quickly.
