By now, I’m sure that Google has figured out that its StreetView image of the shooting scene in Binghamton, New York carries a street centerline that is more than just a little off. In reporting the incident, CNN was using StreetView to show the location of the crime scene. The problem is that while the in-studio CNN news reporter was describing the incident with is "magic wall", he was oblivious to the fact that the centerline of Front Street was running directly through an adjacent house. See image above (click for larger view). Seems odd that that would happen since I assume that the centerline was captured simultaneously as the Google car was driving the street. However, if the centerline is taken from a provider like Tele Atlas, the digital street provider to Google, then its TA with the problem.
