Alabama Uses Virtual Earth For Transparency to Constituents
Part of the governor's open access policy includes a searchable map of all the office space the state leases. It taps into Microsoft Virtual Earth for visualization. This and other tools may make the state "most open of any state government in the nation," per Jim Burns, the state's CIO.

Oregon Governor Announces Stimulus Map
Governor Ted Kulongoski announced the new feature of the state’s recovery Web site that maps how state and local governments are spending stimulus dollars. For now it's just a start, with more detail, as it becomes available.
The next version of this tool will have more detailed information, including the exact location of projects, dollars invested, and job numbers. The state also will use the tool to match the project location with local businesses and Oregonians who are currently claiming unemployment to achieve the highest possible impact for every stimulus dollar.
The map uses Flash 10 and is powered by ESRI.
