The School of Earth, Environment and Society includes geoglogy, geography and the environmental program. The interdiscplinary school, which launched officially this past summer, "would make it easier for students to look at spatial problems" said Joe Frizado, associate geology professor.

In the works: "students can expect to see a Master of Science in geospatial science or a Bachelor of Science for the school in the future."

The school saves money by paying a single director, but the challenge of findind a home for the shcool lingers: the programs are currently in three different buildings.

A press conference in Malta focussed on a new strategic relationship between ESRI and the country.

The Ministry for Investment, Industry and IT has announced that it has entered into the sixth Vertical Strategic Alliance (VSA) agreement with ESRI, a reputable ICT company. ESRI, founded in 1969, is a market leader in GIS technology and its software is used in more than 300,000 organisations worldwide.

Of note, the relationship includes lots of software for education and some free software for the government.
