It’s a bit confusing because there’s no date on the webpage (URL seems to indicate 4/2) but apparently MapInfo has or will announce a new center in Noida, India. The company is looking for all levels of Java and .NET technologies programmers for software product development, quality assurance and technical support activities. It sounds like development along with local sales will happen there.

Seeking Alpha offers up maps from the Wall Street Journal that illustrate where the sub-primers are. The article from WSJ is behind the for-fee wall, but Seeking Alpha has reprinted the maps. (I’m not sure how/if fair use applies here. Anyone know?)

The Export Achievement Award from the U.S. Commercial Service, an agency from the U.S. Department of Commerce, honors ESRI for expanding its GIS market in Latin America. Among ESRI work in Latin America is support for the Chilean Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI).

“TIF districts are demarcated in the city’s GIS through ArcGIS, a system that is used for 80 percent of GIS work worldwide, Gidcumb indicated.”

Attributed to Mike Gidcumb of the City of Mt. Carmel’s, Illinois in a local story about the city’s GIS. TIF district is not defined. I do like the title of the article (part 1 of a two parter). “GIS moves the filing cabinet to the map.”
