It was reported some weeks ago that a settlement conference was offered to try to settle this action out of court. I read in the latest MAPPS newsletter (pdf) that the U.S. government rejected the offer.
Also in that issue is the President’s Message, by MAPPS president Kurt Allen. Among other things he questions why AAG et al. put forward the amicus brief in opposition to the MAPPS et al. litigation and offers some suggested answers.
I have no information on what if anything occurred last Friday, Feb 23, when the hearing was to begin after several postponements.

In today’s podcast, we explore the possible ramifications of Google’s recently announced KML Search capability. Is it a big deal? Will it alter the way we decide how and what tool we use to publish geospatial data? Will making KML an OGC/international standard help the geospatial community feel more comfortble with Google’s reach into our arena? We discuss these issues and answer some questions you might have about publishing KML files to make them findable by “the web of places.” The podcast is 12 minutes (~ 4 Mb) and was recorded February 26, 2007.
