Reader Larry pointed me to a Slashdot submission (no geography) about some folks who saw a strange SUV with all sorts of camera on it taking pictures as they rode their bikes. It turns out it was Microsoft and the driver said it was happening all over the world. Right. Tele Atlas and NAVTEQ have vehicles doing the same. I wonder if the reaction is different if it’s Microsoft? When I visited the Tele Atlas event a few weeks ago one of the more interesting things on its bright orange vans was a laser scanner.
