In an article (will require some info to view the article) in the Jackson, Michigan Citizen Patriot, the Blackman Township board asked the question about how much would a GIS cost them. What they found out after a working session was that it would cost $42,000 this year; $16,000 next year, and $6,000 per year thereafter. The board was surprised but not discouraged, so it was reported. However, it does not seem to say that they’ve included personnel costs in their estimate. The article did mention that they’ve spent $6,000 on the system so far but have resisted purchasing hardware and software. Makes me wonder what it was they spent the money on!
